Cation Column

In Power industry ion exchange column is used to meaure low conductivity applications. Alkaline chemicals like ammonia and sodium hydroxide are added routinely to boiler feed water and boiler drum to control corrosion by increasing the pH. The effect is to increase the conductivity of the water, thereby masking the conductivity of any contaminants. After passing sample through ion exchange, conductivity of the contaminants like chloride, carbonate and sulphate can be found.
